BLM/El Mirage (Gina R.)

 

  • 5,000-6,000 visitors to El Mirage in May 2004

  • 16 Joshua Trees have been adopted

  • Fencing on hold

  • RTP grants received

  • Discussion on water truck, dump truck & rake.

Law Enforcement (B. Nelson)

 

  • Reported on fines for damage to natural features, arrests, citations, and law enforcement shifts (nights)

  • Commended SCTA for self-policing

Friends of El Mirage: Treasurers Report (P. Nickolaus)

 

  • Submitted detailed Preliminary report on El Mirage Days’04

Net income: $486.17

  • Group voted to give Louise Egley (Wind Wizards)$100 for mileage reimbursement for EL Mirage Days ‘04

Filming (Sheri Davis)

 

  • Economic impact (Jan.-May) 1.5 million which is a low estimate

  • Cover sheet on BLM will include “no doughnuts or sharp turns”

  • A film crew was out w/o a permit for 2 days (resolved)

S.B. County (T. Dustin)

 

  • Increase in 17 escrows this month

  • 250 parcels ready for transfer

El Mirage Days ’05, Discussion

  • It was suggested that Louise E. coordinate next year’s El Mirage Days

  • Lonnie (The new SCTA sergeant at arms) will work on enlarging the display area

  • Raffle prizes can be donated to Gina now.

  • Louise will target $100.00 sponsors

New Field Manager (Roxie Trost)

 

  • West Mojave Plan waiting for biological opinion-should be ready by end of month

  • Fee demo is not legislated

  • BLM orders new equipment, not old

  • Re: community concern for lost revenue (There is a cap)

  • Insurance necessary for poker run

  • Barstow resources not our issue

MAC Meeting

 

  • Paul Davis will attend this month

Other Business

 

  • Betty Davis gave an update on Christmas Party

  • Voiced community concern regarding closing of El Mirage Community Park

  • No Fee Discussion

  • Action Log changes from May were not logged
